Granted the Forte 1's have the exponential mid and a 12" passive (compared to the Tractix and the 15 on the Forte 2.) but everything you wrote is holds true for my observations. I haven't heard the KG4.2's, but I do have a pair of KG5.5's and a pair of Forte 1's. If you can swing the Forte's, get them and don't look back. Still, the 4.2's are amazing for 2 channel as well and they are extremely punchy and dig pretty deep, and they aren't as picky on positioning being they are a sealed design, but the guy telling you they have more bass than the Forte II's is a straight lie. After living with the Forte II's for a little bit I did Crites crossovers and Titanium diaphragms and they are on another level. But, head to head my Forte 2's and my KG 5.5s are both lovely, but the Forte's ended up in my 2 channel setup with a SX-1250, and the KG 5.5's ended up being the front channel in my theater setup with a Denon 7.1 receiver with no sub needed. Then with the Forte's you get a fuller sound with the midrange horn. Even then, if the Forte's are positioned right the passive radiator sounds punchier, the 5.5's might dig a hz or 2 deeper on paper, but don't sound like it if positioned properly. I've compared all the KG's and the 5.5's are the only ones that come close to the Forte's bass. The 4.2s are very clean and punchy, but the Forte II's do everything better. The 4.2's do not sound nearly as good as the Forte II's. I have both pairs, as well as several others in the KG line.
